I learned what sageuk is - which i have watched a couple that i liked - but i don’t know what makjang is. I did a search and it sounds like it might be like soaps?
And sure, it will take a while to become bigger, but i think we might attract people over time by just posting.
I don’t think really think that we will get a massive flood of ex-redditors at once, but i do believe that it might become a little stream that will grow along the way. A tiny percentage of those will be interested in kdrama and when they see an active community, which gets crawled by search engines, people will join.
It will just take a long time, would be my guess, but i can be patient.
But i was already thinking about putting some posts out, just to show that this is already an active - tiny - community.
Yes, makjang is basically a very drawn out soap that will test your imagination and patience. Some people seem to like it, and I think the most popular dramas in Korea are usually of the makjang variety.

I’m trying to decide if we need to move to another instance, since chirp.social seems to be on kbin and could be difficult to manage if we’re all coming from lemmy side. Do you think it’s worth a shot to join forces with the other kdrama community? They’ve already got a mod there and with us being there we’d have more users too.
