If that’s true (don’t know the episode) I’d like to express my disappointment in that particular episode. The Simpsons used to have a cool little animation style for animals. It was a tiny bit unique. I’m specifically thinking of the episode “call of the Simpsons” in this episode, they changed the style to some regular style bear. No more classic Simpsons bear :(
It’s the switch to digital ink in season 14, but also the first 4 seasons used a different animation studio.
I think if they’d wanted to they could keep a more unique style similar to the early seasons, but I don’t think it was a high priority. Also while they could do it now, it might not have been as simple when the technology was still relatively new.
Ultimately it’s the challenge of being on TV for 30+ years, lots of things change.
