I paint monsters into thrift store landscapes. This is the second one I did, another from the era in which I didn’t have the foresight to photograph the original landscape, or in this case, swampscape. I was also giving them generic titles based on their surroundings, but that didn’t last long.
“Tom we’re RICH!!!”
“Wait, what happened?”
“Did you remember that plain boring paint grandma loved to keep in the bedroom? The lake view? I casually show an old photo of the room to a friend in the art market and guess what? THAT THING IS WORTH A FORTUNE!!! MILLIONS!!!”

Someday this exact thing is going to happen, and it will simultaneously be the saddest and happiest day of my life.
