Occasionally I can make progress by looping back to a project that has been relegated to the backburner. How do you guys keep focus?

It kinda depends on the project. With things that take a lot of time and personal development, v think learning a language, it is more of a start and stop cyclical thing. I get inspired to study Russian and boom, it’s day and night for a few weeks all my free time goes to that. Then it dies off and I move on to something else.

For things that do not allow for that kind of flexibility, I have to talk myself into starting and I then know that I have a day or a few to knock it out hardcore like. Generally a few days of concerned effort is enough to tackle must projects. If not, there is a non-zero chance it will get dropped when I get bored.

Yeah definitely agree with the cyclical thing, although sometimes I struggle to feel like I am making efficient progress when I have to relearn too much.

Can you give an example of a for fun project that doesn’t have that flexibility? My hobbies that don’t have much flexibility involve living things like plants and fish, but they sometimes just turn into chores

The one that comes to mind would be anything involving building something outside that has a time crunch. For instance, I have goats and wanted to expand the enclosure I keep them in to allow them access to more land. I had to close off the area that I was keeping them in while I expanded it, so I had to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. It took a couple of days, but I got everything in place and the goats were much happier.

It’s weird that I find building fences “fun”, but despite it technically being a chore, it is a part of my farming hobby and I enjoy it sometimes.

Baby goats are definitely top 5 cutest baby animals, I love goats, though the bucks just reek and turned me off goat cheese lol (it has the same smell-flavour).

Doing things for pets or livestock is definitely something that can be rewarding as it enriches their lives. Goats especially will openly enjoy any new thing they can climb on haha. It is sometimes fun to build something that has utility though! I have the most problems sticking to some purely creative endeavours like drawing, though.

Aww they are both lovely. Do the turkeys lay big eggs, and are they just as good as chicken eggs?

Larger than chicken eggs with a tougher shell, but pretty much exactly the same taste-wise. Farm fresh eggs are the way to go.
