I’ve been posting some stuff to this community to help seed content, and in doing so I got into the right mood to boot up TF2 again. Having over 3700 hours in the game, I can confidently say there’s nothing else quite like it.

I’m rusty as hell, of course, but that doesn’t even matter; this game has a unique atmosphere on most pubs and community servers where you don’t need to be super good to enjoy yourself and messing around is encouraged, which is a rarity in a lot of modern titles. The problems that weigh the game down still make me sad, as they always have (lack of dev support, rampant cheaters on public lobbies, quite a few weapons being relegated to the trash bin because they’re simply bad, default graphics settings being pretty horrible and needing a config to tighten them up), but the community is still here and I find that endearing.

The only problem is that every 3 years I have to get a new computer, because somehow this game finds a way to get crappy fps even on modern hardware.

I’ve been using mastercomfig for some years, and it’s kept the game both looking good and high performance. Check it out, it might help!
