He’ll be tried for corruption charges in Russia, by Russian laws if he ever loses or steps down from power. He knows if he ever loses power in Russia he’ll be killed by his own people, that’s why he’s done everything he can to stay in power.
Correct. There were like two leaders of RI\USSR\RF in this thousand of years who retired and died out of the office. Statistics are not on his side. And his fashion of personal power doesn’t help it too. If he’d ever lose a reputation of a national fixer, he’d get to know what knife proctology is. The problem are - he can sit there for how long he lives as long as he holds power, and many of his men are afraid of booting him because any such suspicion would be an opportunity to rat them out and take their position.
Why not both? Lose power BECAUSE he’s killed by his accomplices.
