This June, creators from the X-Men’s past, present, and future come together to bid a final farewell to the Krakoan Age in X-MEN #35, the milestone 700th issue of Uncanny X-Men!
So how has been the Krakoan age, is it readable without going into crossovers? Every time i wanted to dive in i saw a hundred crossovers and mini series i wasnt interested on, is the main series readable by itself?
I felt the same with the X-universe of comics decades ago, maybe it’s a cyclical thing, they just get so convoluted so quickly. I think last time I was reading any X-titles was back in the 90s, and I just checked out and stopped reading them regularly. Anytime I hear about some new development it seems to get more and more out there.
yeah, they always do, the xmen line is usually a mess designed to shake as much money as they can with continual crossovers and events(even more than other superhero comics i mean lol). Thats the reason i just wait for runs to finish and pick up only stuff that its decent and contained in specific books. Wish they had a single main book where you could follow the story with minimal interference like Morrison’s New xmen, the first era of Claremont and all that.
Well, thats already more books and events than i was willing to read lol, i doubt i will be picking those up anytime soon unless they collect a decent storyline together where i dont need to be jumping books to get the whole picture. Thanks for the answer.

Astonishing X-men and Uncanny X-Force are quality self-contained runs as well.
HOX/POX is very readable up through the X Lives of Wolverine / X Deaths of Wolverine. For my money, that’s where the whole Krakoan age fell apart.
After that I just stopped reading all but 3 books or so and it doesn’t feel like I missed anything.
X-Men, Immortal X-Men and X-Force are the three key books currently.
