Had the S10+ for a long time and was really happy with it, but I was bitter with Samsung and Android in general because of the low support life, lack of a good eco-system, and lack of in person stores to visit when you have legitimate issues.

I tried Apple for two weeks, and came back. Mainly, the user experience is designed to be used as a happy path user, and you must not stray away from that. I dislike that and appreciate customization.

I looked around for other devices but the S23U really did it for me. Found one at BestBuy as an open box, but it was brand new. Discounted it by ~$350 with the 5% on CC as well.

So far, it’s been great. Speed, plenty of RAM, great display, great battery life, excellent camera. Sometimes the camera pictures do look a bit off, like they’ve gone through processing too much, but for the most part they’re good.

There are times where I am zoomed in and I see that the image is being processed. After it is done, the one captured is different than the one processed. Bit annoying and I think they could do better in enhancing that, but I’ve not had a single bad picture and usually I really like the outcome. Even the iOS users prefer it.

I’m still on the S10 and honestly without reddit killing the battery I might use it for a while. I have upgraded the memory to 512 and it grinds. Plus it’s cheap to replace when I break it. How much better is the battery?

What’s Reddit doing? I’m assuming you’re using the official app?

When I had the S10+, I changed the battery and that killed the monitor and the waterproofing so don’t do that lol.

I’d say that I charge my phone once, or twice a day at max. Where with the S10+ it was more like 4 times a day.

I notice it the most when using Google Maps. I would drive for 2 hours and with the S10+, that meant a lot of my charge. With the S23U it was maybe 15%?

I was using relay for far too many hours…it wasn’t relay’s or RIF’s fault…also if I used the dumpster fire official app I wouldn’t be figuring out lemmy… fuck u/Spez and the official app

Never had to 4x a day, but definitely caught vampire apps draining the battery. Google is a resource hog.

Haha, you’re right! Doi! Of course you’re not using the official app!

Okay yeah, makes sense. It was the same situation for me too, I use Boost and just the amount of time using it took a lot of power.

I’d recommend the phone honestly, it’s really worth the price. Especially with the deals they have for the 512 at the price of the 256, but the 512 has more RAM.
