I didn’t have any problems with the second game. So I’m curious what specifically made you hate it so much?

It’s portrayals of the characters and the odd decisions they made. It felt like they butchered them just to carry out the message of violence begets violence when you had that all along in the first game. The way they framed the characters and story is similar in a way to the Netflix Witcher TV show. The characters all just act in a way that’s contrary to how they’d already been set up. And I don’t hate it, that’s too strong a word for something that I’m just not interested in anymore. And you ask, why do you still talk about it. Because I love the original so much, it meant a lot to me, and to see what they did to Joel and Ellie, and to know what we could’ve had. Well, it all just feels like wasted potential. I would’ve much preferred if 2 in the series was just those flashbacks that we experienced throughout the 2 that we got instead. There’s a compelling narrative there, and a gripping story about a man who lost his child only to raise a surrogate one instead. That to me would’ve hit much harder than what we ended up getting. And now I just can’t care about this series anymore, because the characters that I once had are dead and butchered. Hence the “everything else is just fanfiction” bit. Guess you could say that I’m still pretty passionate about it haha 😅
