I tested it a bit in a VM to get familiar with pacman and yay. Latest KDE Plasma 6 and more snaps in Ubuntu’s future are the main reasons I want to switch.
As I don’t use a separate home partition, I have an extra drive with BackInTime home dir backups and virtnbdbackup snapshots.
Is EndeavourOS stable enough for everyday use and would restoring home with BackInTime just work (as root user)?
I’m using endeavourOS too, I didn’t even know there was an update script. We don’t all just use pacman?
I don’t know the specifics, but when you
-Syuand there’s a kernel update, at the end of the update it will run some additional commands. I’m pretty sure that’s normal pacman behaviour, but I haven’t used vanilla Arch in a while. At that pointmkinitcpiowould fail silently, I couldn’t boot afterwards, and there were no warnings about it. Running the command manually would work without an issue and allow me to boot again.EOS uses standard pacman and the kernel is the standard Arch package. It is identical.
