Up next is the ever popular 1312 drive from Black Mass Electronics.
For the uninitiated this is a ProCo RAT clone that allows you to dial through the various flavors of RAT with the clip knob.
This pedal is an incredibly versatile drive and while I’ve never had a RAT I only hear good things. I mostly use it if I’m playing my guitar in Drop D or if I want to get really tight distortion tones. This pedal also gets LOUD.
This setting you see is more of a mid-range distortion vibe to contrast against the fuzz pedals I have on the board. I’ve been swapping this around with a few other drives I have just to change things up and try different stacking. I have no idea what clip mode it’s in but I don’t really mess with the others.
I’ll be up front, this is an expensive RAT clone and you can get RAT tones for much cheaper. I purchased it because I wanted a RAT and I very much wanted to support Black Mass, who’s ethos with this pedal I very much agree with.
Have you ever tried the JHS Rat Pack? I’d be curious how it’s modes compare this ones.
I haven’t tried it. I’m not a RAT enthusiast so I can’t speak to it or compare them. I know JHS did a ton of research before making it though and put out a video on it.
