This link goes to Reddit, however, we have used a direct video link to avoid giving them ad revenue.

Which app are you using? Did not know it works in the app, good to know! /u/L4s is a bot that xposts content to try and jump-start communities and bring more content to Lemmy.

The videos are hosted on Reddit’s server, but visiting them does not give them ad revenue as they are direct links (no ads display that way).

WefWef (the apollo clone) … when scrolling this sub (and only this sub that Ive seen so far) all the videos auto play, pretty awesome and why I was surprised. Neither Memmy, liftoff, thunder, nor just a PWA of lemmy.world play automatically. I have to click on the link to open up the video on those platforms.

I’d be curious if the most recent video posted to publicfreakout does auto-play, can you let me know? “Woman loses it and gets arrested at apartment swimming pool” is the title, that one should have sound too. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, during my testing I didn’t have sound on, didn’t realize the “videos” don’t have sound, so I think it’s basically a gif. Trying to fix it, but the only way I’ve found is not very reliable, and I’d bet won’t auto play ;[

Using their resources to jump start our communities. Excellent.

Some people dislike the idea of borrowing posts to grow communities but clearly it’s working. Keep it up.

Well thanks! I get why they don’t like it; being that it’s not “OC”, but even Reddit did similar with Digg when they started out - things come full circle sometimes
