    How does this protect against a drone?

      Perhaps it’s to stop an aerial drone from dropping munitions down an open hatch, the way they’ve been dropping them on tanks and IFVs, rather than a drone just smashing into the conning tower…maybe someone else has a better explanation

        I assume whatever they drop down a hatch will also fit between those thin metal bars.

          They probably have mesh over them that was lost in compression of that image.

      They need to make contact to really do damage, this detonates them before they can get close to anything important. I think that’s the idea.

      Edit: the other person seems more correct with the whole dropping things down the hatch idea, for my idea to work they’d have to cover everything
