I actually think they’re a lot less annoying than some of the other attempted expressive shortcuts common to Reddit.

*facepalm*And so on. They’re obnoxious if they’re used like punctuation or in place of entire words and sentences, but to indicate tone I think they’re great! 👍
I’m so used to non-emoji text that they feel like extreme over-emoting
I hate all of those examples on both sides.
