Before the event, about 200 people turned out to protest Rittenhouse’s appearance, far outnumbering the amount of people who attended in support of him.

This is something of a microcosm of the country. We outnumber them, by a lot.

Then why was the last election so close?

Because of our shitty election system.

If you look at the popular vote, Biden won decisively. But because of how the electoral college works, it’s all about winning states as opposed to winning a grand total of votes, and small states tend to swing right.

Even though Biden won the popular vote by several million votes, the election was actually decided by roughly 200,000 votes spread though a handful of swing states.

        It’s a broken system.

If this is a serious question, voter suppression and gerrymandering.

Significant hurdles are put in place to make it damn hard for working class blue voters to vote.

          This is true!

ALSO, gerrymandering can backfire if never Trumpers get off their butt and vote in districts that are supposed to be locks for Republicans - so VOTE dammit!

Because a lot of the new voters in this election weren’t eligible to vote in the last one.

All available evidence shows things being disturbingly close. Other then shit like this which, personally, I say it boils down to Rittenhouse is old news and nobody honestly gives a fuck about him anymore other then people like us who hate him. Kinda dangerous also shows your just not really looking at reality when you claim America is now a vastly left leaning country which is what you are saying when you say we outnumber them by a lot dude.

If by evidence you mean polls, you need to vet your evidence better. Polls are only as good as their responses, but nobody in younger generations picks up the phone for unknown numbers or has time to answer a poll, which skews the numbers heavily. What I do know is that these kids grew up with more school shootings than days in a year, they have seen firsthand the economic and social ruin brought about by these fascists, and only a very small minority of them think it’s anyone’s fault but the Republicans.

What you should be worried about is not winning the election, but the likelihood we’ll have to fight to keep it won.

Literally all I am talking about when I try to point out we don’t outnumber them by a lot. If we did outnumber them by a lot this would not and never would be a concern at all.

We haven’t won yet dude. Stop acting like we have because its fucking dangrous.

I disagree with your premise. Where are the hordes of young people showing up to Republican events at schools?

More, what’s dangerous about pointing out that school-age kids have every reason to vote anything but conservative? You think that will breed complacency? The same argument can be made for dooming like you are breeding apathy, but my position at least has some logic behind it. Your rebuttal was “same for republicans” with absolutely fuck all to back it up.

A mix of voter apathy and gerrymandering gives an outsized right wing showing on voting day. If more people voted then the actual outcomes would be a lot more representative of the national demographics. Which is why il"Get out and vote" is seen as unfair by the right.

But…this entire discussion started because of how more leftists turned up then right wing fucks. So…we only turn up to bitch and moan but don’t vote is the take away here?

Kinda, yeah. Leftists show up to protests because it’s sexy and performative, but don’t show up to vote because supporting the lesser evil is icky.
