    The cars are still slower than the v10 era

    I never understood that sole focus on top speed.

    The wheel to wheel racing is better than in the V10 era, and that’s what the regulations intend to do. What’s the point of being fast in a straight line when the actual racing is shit? As a spectator you don’t notice the difference between 355 and 365 kph anyway.

      Not through a screen at least, thanks to camera angles and cuts that prioritize sponsors’ legibility over quality views of great racing.

        Perpendicular tight stationary shots are needed in order to get a sense of speed. The narrow camera angles don’t provide enough coverage to show battles or even a whole corner. Think about car racing in the movies, the tight shots when a camera is following the action, they have to cut to the speedo or tac to provide a sense of speed.

        The adverts littering the track are a product of having to use wider shots to show the action.
