Welcome, all!

This is all a bit of a change of pace, isn’t it?

Since it is clear that Reddit has no intention of backtracking one iota on its API pricing stance, I will be using the site a whole lot less come the end of this month.

Lemmy seems like the best potential replacement for Reddit in a lot of ways, so those of you who are joining the exodus are welcome to join this community and continue the good work that r/DebunkThis has been doing for over a decade, just on a platform that hasn’t sold its soul to venture capital.

Let us know in the comments if you have any thoughts, concerns, or ideas for helping our community flourish.

Those who don’t contribute won’t be missed.

One of the highest voted comments in my favorite former (quite small) sub, was in response to a mod’s complaint about being suspended and booted, etc. A very active and valuable contributor of long standing, the mod abdicated and announced the decision in a post. The comment, from a user I was not familiar with, “We have mods?”

What those votes pointed out was either a great number of lurkers who never contributed, or bots scanning for and downvoting posts on the subject. Either way, those voters won’t be missed.
