That said, I also had some trouble creating my account a few days ago, lol!

Sorry medyong baluktot pa Tagalog ko. My friend explained it like this for less techy users:

        • Lemmy the platform is planet Earth
        • “instances” like lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, beehaw.org, etc. are like the different countries on Earth
        • When someone signs up, the user picks one instance to be a part of, like how an Earthling becomes a citizen of a country
        • If you register at lemmy.ml, that means your *home instance */ “home country” is lemmy.ml, but you can “travel” to lemmy.world, another instance / “country”, to check out and subscribe to their community
        • When you subscribe to a different instance that’s not your home instance, you can still participate in their content, and other people will be able to see which instance / “country” you’re from
        • Each instance can have its own version of the same “subreddit”, so you can have a c/Philippines in your home instance that is different from a c/Philippines in another instance. But you can subscribe to both separately (sidenote: c/<name> is the naming convention used here I think)

Someone please correct any of this if any of it is wrong, I’ll happily edit

At the risk of oversimplifation, attempt kong i-explain kung paano ko sya naintindihan.

It’s also worth noting na may important distinction yung mga instances. lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml for example, are populated by tankies. So, kahit na may Philippines sila dun na community, it’s not as casual unlike the version we created here at lemmy.world that uses the Mastodon code of conduct similar to reddiquette.

The only reason why I chose to create this in lemmy.world is because the other bigger instances weren’t accepting any new applications. Buti na lang, haha.

Buti na lang talaga! Parang nung sumali ako, fresh off the oven pa itong instance na ito, so wala rin akong idea other than it was created to take the load off some of the other instances.

              Edit:

Alangan din akong i-bring up yung ideologies that differ between instances (like lemmy.ml is kinda left-y, lemmygrad.ml is communist, hexbear even more so) and ended up hinting at them by saying “magkaibang kultura”. 😅

Tho that said, as far as I know, chill lang dito sa lemmy.world, and I think it’s one of the best instances to join in lalo na kung mejo undecided ka.
