It’s basically child porn and I’m pretty sure we and the admins don’t want to propogate that.

I’m not searching for CP, so I don’t care, yet a quarter of all posts being about banning some community is worrying

What are you doing that you’re seeing so many posts about that? This is literally the first one I’ve seen in 3 days.

Frankly, I don’t know, I’ve just joined and stumbled upon tons of posts about defederating from Meta, The Donald drama, then I’ve decided to check for new post and saw this one

I agree actually. Everything is already super fragmented ultimately defeating the purpose of federation. Defederating doesn’t remove that content either, it just makes it harder to access.

it just makes it harder to access.

Not only. For CP and other possible legally risky content, Federation means violating data may be shared between instances.

Also, this is stated like it’s a negative? Are you saying this because it should be easy to access child porn?

        WTF?

That’s a strawman argument and an argument from emotion. If they’re really hosting CP, then bring down the law on them. They usually can’t because they likely aren’t hosting CP, they’re hosting content that makes you uncomfortable. I’m not for banning stuff that makes you uncomfortable, regardless of how extreme it is. Defederating just means separation, it effectively does nothing to the content itself except make it very slightly harder to access.
