I’ve seen some analysis at places like https://wordletools.azurewebsites.net/starterranking, and I’ve heard some people base their start word on answers to other NY Times puzzles. Some people use consistent second guesses, like I would use LASER, and then POINT, and with those two I get nearly all vowels and most of the common letters.
