All I want them to do is tell me about how long it will take before I commit to ordering. If my pizza will take 20 minutes, say 20 minutes. If my pizza will take 50 minutes, say 50 minutes. I respect them being busy or understaffed if they’re honest about it.
The Domino’s I used to order from would regularly arrive well before the projected time.
Edit: Since there is confusion over what I said, this is me agreeing that there doesn’t need to be a 30-minute guarantee. Or any time-based guarantee - just a realistic estimate.
Keep in mind, at the time of The Noid, there were no smartphones and pagers had barely been overshadowed by flip-phones, while the internet was still a plaything with garish flashy sprites plastered across Geocities, Friendster, Altavista, etc., and NO one had any idea how to reliably ascertain how long a specific store would need to make your specific order on a specific shift and deliver it to a specific location, but all the competition seemed to hate the “less than 30 mins” idea and thus Dominoes ran with it. (The same guy also owned the Detroit Red Wings, so there’s that)
