For one I knew it’ll look cute, but also the trunk does not have the space… and the backseats are a pain no matter what you wanna do with em, so the front seat was pretty much the only option

Nice so if you have to slam on your breaks you’ll have a heavy ass computer flying through your windshield at 50+ mph. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that seat belt is going to make a difference. It won’t.

You might want to rethink your strategy instead of going the “cute” route.

Now im curious, do tell me how you would’ve done it? Can’t have it be delivered, Trunk and Backseats are out of the count as well and considering the fragile nature of a Computer like this, the ground needs to be cushioned and Soft.

I also wanna clarify that I cannot go faster then 50 km/h, i.e 31 mph in the City.

Why in the hell are backseats and the trunk off limits?

The SVX Trunk is tiny and too low to fit an entire PET.

As for the backseats, one of the biggest complaints about the SVX is that its really hard to get into the backseats because the Seats do not go forward enough. They go forward so little that I couldn’t fit the PET between the seats to move it back there as I originally tried to. I really need to stress, the Commodore PET is a big, long and wide Machine.

The only thing I think i could’ve done better in retrospective is to take a rope of sorts and also fasten the top part, maybe between the monitor and main Unit, that way there would’ve been no way that it could slip in a crash or Breaking situation. Guess I just didn’t think of that at the time, gonna keep that in mind next time tho

Literally anything you can do to change the idea that the computer is going straight through the wind shield during a collision is a massive improvement. That could easily kill someone.

              It’s all personal liability.

Oh I read it. They are putting it in the front seat because the rest of their car is full of shit.

It’s a decision making problem. They’ve chosen a dangerous solution to their “problem” and I am calling them out on their stupidity.

Stop defending stupidity. That’s more Reddit than anything else here.

With the position it’s in I feel like the seat belt would probably stop it, it would have to rotate really far for the keyboard to slip past and at that point I feel like it’s more likely to be flung into the floor than the windshield

No it’s just going to rotate out of the belt. Nothing is stopping it from rotating. That thing is too top heavy with it being a tube monitor. It’s only secured at the bottom which won’t do shit other then let it rotate.

It depends how far it gets before the seatbelt locks, if there isn’t much space between the belt and the seat it would be pretty hard for it to rotate. It would also need to somehow get a lot of upward motion to go through the windshield instead of just smashing in a dashboard and I don’t see how that would happen unless it was a really crazy crash.

It’s too heavy enough where that belt won’t do much since it’s so low on the computer.

The alternative is this person gets t-boned and instead of the monitor going through the wind shield it goes through their head.

The bottom line is this isn’t a good idea. There are better ways to deal with this.
