I don’t trust the other manufacturers to support their systems as well as the Steam Deck. Asus, Lenovo, MSi, and all of the Chinese brands make their money from the initial sale only. Valve continues to make money after the sale, so they want to make sure your Deck lasts as long as possible.

Agreed. And in a unique form factor like this with plenty of restrictions software and specific optimizations matter even more than usual.
