It’s a product of META , Facebook’s greasy overlord. Essentially its a separate app from Instagram but it compliments Instagram. It is Facebook’s attempt to siphon users from Twitter. Also Threads accounts cannot be deleted only deactivated at the moment.
I think I’ll be joining Threads and leave Lemmy.

No from what what I’ve read its focused on a text limit like Twitter is.
