    No, of course not, for the same reasons I’m not a libertarian; I’m too familiar with human nature to believe that people will all just collectively do the right thing or that mob justice is viable.

    Many people are lazy, and stupid or just empathetically disabled etc. Those kinds of people simply cannot be depended upon to not act selfishly or ignorantly.

    You see how people behaved when faced with a pandemic, so many people behave like dipshits even when you take pains to educate them and help them not hurt others with their negligence.

    Society requires law and law requires enforcement, which requires some form of authority (preferably democratically allocated). We don’t live in small tribes any longer, things cannot operate under the assumption that we do.
