Most western comic book properties that get some kind of anime adaptation are typically pretty bad. Anyone remember Marvel Anime?
Yeah, I didn’t think so.
If you want a more specific argument for why this will probably suck, let’s take a look at who’s directing this. The director for the series is Eri Osada, who has typically worked as animation director on a bunch of series. But animation director and series director are very different things. Their series directing experience solely encompasses two episodes of two separate anime: JoJo’s Bizarre Experience: Diamond is Unbreakable and Jujutsu Kaisen. This doesn’t guarantee that the project will be a stinker, but projects with a high degree of confidence behind their success don’t typically go to novice directors.
One thing I will say is that I like the writers attached to the series, as they’re the creative duo behind Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song. Still, this seems like a project meant to put money into pockets and not any kind of genuine creative endeavor, as if someone drew the name of a DC comics property followed by a genre of anime out of a hat.
So is this basically a lot of the same staff that would have been in the WIT Studio division that did Vivy? Cause they did an extremely good job on that anime original story. The fighting choreography was top notch too. But it could be just a select few of that Vivy staff and we should not expect the same thing.
Also, wasn’t there the Batman Ninja movie? I never saw it, but it could be another example of a western comic book property that got an anime adaptation.

You just described pretty much everyone’s experience with Batman Ninja (and, yes, it was literally just called Batman Ninja). That said, no, Eri Osada did key animation on other series, perhaps most notably Seikon No Qwaser (although they did 2nd key animation, it’s still key animation). So, if a central focus on this Suicide Squad show is a breastmilk drinking fetish, I’d say we’re in good hands. Otherwise…meh.
Have to agree, sounds like a show made for the memes and probably going to be trash. At least there is already a good Harley animated series.
What a wild crossover
This was kinda out of left field, but also looks amazing and kinda hype? It’s weird seeing Akira Amano’s name up there, maybe I should check out her latest manga on Jump+ for old time’s sake.
