Here’s one not stuck in a tree:
And here’s some in use by Swedish competition shooters. They’ve been modified with brass catchers and sight hoods.

BRASS CATCHER!? Where the fuck were those when i was in the army? I had to collect hundreds of thousands of casings by hand like god intended. Kids these days… /s
A nitpicker is your best friend if you have to do it by hand.
a high volume range I’ve used had these to clean up.
You don’t exactly get to dictate how you’ll do stuff and what equipment you’ll use in the Army. The tedium is the point half the time.
You’ve heard of elf on a shelf, but what about SMG in a tree?
Literally a forgotten weapon!! I love it! Ha
Thanks! I try and sprink in a few ones like this now and then.
Tell me more about this “chainsaw training exercise”
I can’t find much on it but it seems to me Sweden has land designated for army training. Presumably they have combat engineers or a similar occupation who need to be trained with chainsaws, and they took those men out into a space on that land where someone has previously forgotten this SMG. I’d assume that they were tasked with cutting down random trees until they could safely and comfortablely use chainsaws.
TLDR: Guys being dudes as mandated by the Government.
I wonder if the pipe rifle in fallout 4 was inspired by this.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that it looked jammed.
