That’s awesome that you found something you’ve enjoyed enough to stay that long!

I’ve actually never been at a position for longer than 2 years (currently at around 6 years of total working experience). Definitely don’t think I would’ve been able to increase my salary at the rate I have without doing so.

However, definitely looking for more long-term stability now lol.

Forgot to mention that I work in the IT field. Is the case for you also?

I’m in the digital marketing space, but definitely similar to IT where I feel pretty much all of the collaboration can be done virtually!

I work in IT too. I was with my first employer for 5 years.

The longest I think I stayed with an employer was 8 years and it was because I really enjoyed it - it was difficult consultancy work that took me all over the country and even to some other countries, but it felt like getting a whole new job every 6 months. I gave it up for stability and no travel after I got married. I was with another employer for 6 very boring/stable years after that and I’ve run my own business and worked for myself for the last 11 years.

The most I’ve worked is 12 years - twice. Once for a now long gone computer company, secondly for another long gone smaller company doing audio.

The longest I’ve worked since is four years, on average about a year.

Where I am now, a games company, I’ve been here two and a half years. I’ve had about six years in games, in excess of 30 years in other industries.

I work in IT. Twenty years with the same company. But inside that company I’ve had nine different jobs and did a degree at night.

Only regret I have is that I’m sure I’m underpaid.
