It’d be nice to start a thread that has a lot of info for people who are looking for reviews or recommendations.

For instance, https://sff180.com/ does a solid job, particularly with their youtube channel, of keeping me informed about books that are coming out. Where do you go for your info?

Besides knowing a lot of authors and then checking out their new works I sometimes browse book publisher websites such as www.tor.com for new releases.

My goal was to put together a large post about where to get started and how to find things, but if someone else wants to take on that challenge that would be great.

We can also use this thread to gather some resources and then I can write a more comprehensive post with all of that information.

I recently picked up a huge stack of old 2014s Asimov at half price books. Was fun to find a bunch of new authors that way, and felt connected to how scifi was published back when in serials

Someone at work mentioned Book of the Month the other day. It might be worth checking.

Personally, I have a list on my computer of recommendations and library holds. I use the library a lot which sometimes means longer waits between entries in a series like The Expanse.

My local library has lists of book suggestions which, TBH, have been hit or miss, but I’ve read some interesting books because of it. Otherwise it’s mostly word-of-mouth from friends or threads like these.
