Trailer: https://youtu.be/g0f1o-KGWPM

Premiere: Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 9pm Eastern, simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu.

The latest trailer shows scenes from Daredevil (the Netflix series), and Hawkeye (with some implied spoilers).

The series is rated TV-MA, which is the most “adult” rating of a Marvel series to date, but matches the Netflix Daredevil rating.

This is also the first series to premiere under the “Spotlight” brand.

Echo will be the first series under the Marvel Spotlight banner… Just like comics fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what’s happening in Maya’s story.

On the one hand, an all at once January dump might mean it’s terrible.

On the other hand there is nothing else out right now and as we saw with What If, they seem to be experimenting with release schedules.

This “all at once” is similar to the Netflix style, or at least the Daredevil Netflix style.

We’re also getting 5 episodes instead of a more standard 6, and each episode is expected to be ~40 minutes. So we’re basically just getting a long movie. And to me cutting an episode means they’re not trying to stretch things out.

After Secret Invasion my expectations are low, but I really want to see something great since this is basically all we’re getting this year.

I kind of have low expectations because I didn’t really care about this character the last time we saw her, but I’m hoping to be won over.

I like the character, but they wouldn’t be my first pick. I think if we had a Hawkeye show going on, and a Daredevil show going on, and then we also got an Echo show, I’d be super excited.

    That new trailer looks neat!

My suspicion is actually that the dumping of all episodes at once is due to it being TV-MA, because Disney doesnt want to promote such a violent shows for multiple weeks on Disney+. Just a guess.

Interesting idea. As they merge with Hulu they’ll likely have lots of TV-MA and R rated content coming their way.

The trailer also calls out having to enable TV-MA content, so it seems like they’re ok with advertising it in the main Disney+ app.

Are they still not merged with Hulu yet? All the Hulu stuff has been under Star in Canada since Disney+ launched!

The US has always had them separate.

They’ve been in the process of merging since December.

Of the two apps Hulu seems like the better of the two, but it looks like they are going the D+ way.

They killed daredevil which people loved and instead gave us echo…

I don’t think Daredevil is dead, but it’s definitely being reworked.

It’s been 5 years and I’m still annoyed at the cancellation. That they produced echo over more daredevil is insult to injury. Eh I’m numb to the pandering at this point

They’re still working on Daredevil though. They had to replace the showrunners because they were developing it as an episodic court drama rather than a Daredevil show to follow on from the Netflix series.
