As best as I can understand, this is a direct sequel to “BanG Dream! MyGO!!!” (that is a lot of exclamation points). The source post on twitter also has a short video accompanying it. They also announced two recap movies for MyGO that are coming out later this year. Here is the synopsis for MyGO from AniList:

The best way to fit in at a new school? Start a band! Anon has just transferred to Haneoka Girls’ Academy where girl bands are all the rage. But she started school late, so there aren’t many girls left to recruit. Then she meets her first friend and Haneoka’s misfit, Tomori, who’s hesitant to join. Still, Anon is determined to persuade Tomori and experience the true power of friendship and music.

Based on my feelings on MyGO ep. 13, I feel like the Ave Mujica anime will be less engaging to me than the MyGO anime was. But I also wasn’t initially very excited for MyGO and it ended up being one of my favorite anime ever, so I’m more than open to being proven wrong.

The recap movies seem like they could be cool. I think my only real complaint with MyGO is that Raana wasn’t especially relevant throughout most of it, so I’m very interested in seeing her get more focus.

That’s pretty much exactly how I felt as well and after a positive surprise with MyGO I’m cautiously optimistic towards Ave Mujica’s turn in the spotlight. Also agree about Raana, she’s kind of there, doing whatever she wants - she feels more like a temp replacement than an actual member of the group (though maybe that’s a deliberate plot point that will be touched upon in the future).

One thing that makes me a bit wary about AM’s focused story is that I have a really hard time sympathizing with characters primarily motivated by fame/money and based on what we’ve seen in MyGO, that’s seems to be the main reason for most of the band. Let’s hope the writing team can do something interesting with it.
