BRUSSELS — One of Europe’s most senior politicians recounted how former U.S. President Donald Trump privately warned that America would not come to the EU’s aid if it was attacked militarily.
“You need to understand that if Europe is under attack we will never come to help you and to support you,” Trump told European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in 2020, according to French European Commissioner Thierry Breton, who was also present at a meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Unilaterally breaking a security agreement many decades old. Yeah, that’s a great plan. What could go wrong?
While I agree that Trump has a really dumb take here…
Hasn’t basically every other country already violated the agreement by not paying their share into it?

Out of 30 NATO countries, only a few actually pay what they promised…
“By the way, NATO is dead.”
Just say you’re a Russian asset already
The European countries that are choosing to join NATO after Trump announced this must have a very short memories. We are not a reliable defense partner. In fact, we might even blow up our partners’ gas pipelines.
Sure, the US is the hemorrhoid in the earth’s ass, but you do realize that the US is just one country. Nato is an alliance between many European countries.
Europe should grow a backbone and create its own, hemorrhoid-free alliance.
