I’ll start. I’m sorry but California Love is a boring ass song.
The first ten seconds of the beat is amazing, but then it just gets so repetitive. The flows sound uninspired and the lyrics aren’t anything special.
I do respect that’s its a classic West Coast anthem, but damn if that song don’t put me to sleep 😴😴😴
Happy Birthday

The Beatles were definitely somewhat innovative for their time, but yeah I’m sick of hearing about how they “invented modern music”.
I started a debate once that The Yardbirds were ultimately more influential than the Beatles. Someone got seriously for real mad about it and it almost became a physical altercation lol
I had taken a few credits focused on the Beatles cultureal impact during my degree and can confirm they are overrated and honestly are not great by modern standards.
Finally the controversial comments are popping up
I have to agree with this. My wife and I were just talking about how the Beatles are generally overrated. Granted they came out over 50 years ago so I don’t have first hand experience of their come up. I just don’t think any of their music is anything to write home about. I’ve heard a lot of music from their contemporaries that sound much more progressive and vibrant. That being said, Come Together is a pretty good song
Hotel California is kinda ok I guess
Upvoted for the unpopular opinion. Hotel California is a good song imho. Everytime I listen to it, I hear new lyrics and themes I didn’t catch before. It sounds so dark and soulful and really makes me imagine a specific setting. To me it sounds like the Eagles really put their whole chest in that song, lots of creativity and a great performance
Africa - Toto
I remember reading a thread where a ton of posters were calling it the greatest song of all time. Maybe I missed a joke, but the adoration for this song seems sincere.
It fine, kinda boring. Come at me.
100% agree. A lot of people like it for the meme, and that’s fine and all. Doesn’t mean the song isn’t boring
Bohemian rhapsody. It’s a good song, and a very creative one at that, but I don’t think it’s anywhere close to being the greatest song ever made.
Yeah I agree. It’s a very creative song and fun to listen too. It’s certainly an experience to hear. I’d say it’s appropriately rated.
im not saying its a bad song, its not, but i dont understand why free bird is played so much or how it became the meme song.
I think Freebird is a pre-Internet meme, like “where’s the beef” was. When someone would take song requests, shouting out Freebird was asking for a song known for versions with 20 minute dueling guitar solos. Basically a ridiculous and over the top request.
It is a good song since it’s still popular today in a serious sense many times, which is what has kept it still somewhat relevant in pop culture.

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
/prepares for battle
The Jeff Buckley version is still my favorite. I haven’t heard any other cover since then that seems to do it justice.
It’s definitely been covered badly too many times and overplayed to the point that it’s a cliche now though
My personal favorite cover was done by Tom Waits.
But I’m also a fan of his music so the bias is there.
Oh wow! I love Tom Waits! I didn’t know he had done a cover of Hallelujah, I’ll have to look it up!
Sweet Child O Mine
Listened to it on loop one summer and am eternally donr with that guitar riff
