I know it’s still early in the Lemmy migration, but when did you become a Falcons fan? I’ve been a fan since the Georgia Dome opened *92 and despite years of pain I still watch every game.
I became a fan when I moved here after college in 1996. Tickets were cheap back then, so I went to a bunch of games at the dome. The fan base really won me over. Unlike some, ours really is made-up of all sorts of people and is pretty universally friendly.
I also really appreciate the gallows humor of the fan base that has had to endure the Falcons play over the years. Bandwagon fans of good teams will never know the camaraderie of fans of historically bad teams.
Definitely a solid fan base of friendly people. I’ve gone to games all over the U.S and Falcons fans are always happy to see other Falcons fans.
I was born into it. My Dad’s family moved to Atlanta in the 70s because my Grandfather worked for Coke. He was a huge football fan and started going to Falcons games pretty regularly. My earliest Falcons memories are Falcons and Saints fans shit talking at the Dome in the 90s.
Unfortunately my grandfather had pretty bad stroke right around the time of the 1998 Superbowl run. He lived another 10 years and we would still take him to games but he never really got to see the Matt Ryan era. RIP Gramps. I cheer for the Falcons in his memory.
