I’ve read Small Gods, Pyramids and The Truth as standalones. I’ve read the City Watch subseries and up through Lords and Ladies of the Witches subseries. What are some good standalones I can look at for my next palate cleanser since I am not ready to go back to Maskerade yet?

Hm, lemme think. Honestly I’d read them in order rather than by series, gives you a nice palate cleanser from particular characters and arcs. Monstrous Regiment is a phenomenal standalone.

Oh I love to read long series and stick with characters as long as I can, so that’s not an issue for me. I just like using Discworld as a refresher between heavier books and series. It was a breath of fresh air when I needed a few days off from Malazan here and there.

Moving pictures also works as a stand alone I believe. Set before The Truth, so you might recognise one of the introduced characters.

Heya! I think all books can be standalones, but I enjoyed Mort especially (it’s the first Death book, so no previous knowledge necessary).

I read Mort in book club last year :) It was okay, I liked City Watch books much better. I do plan to read the rest of the Death series at some point though.
