What’s a quote you use too often from a movie that’s not one of THE quotes from that movie? And will anyone in the community figure it out?
Like a glove!
Ace Ventura, right? (And yes, I’m taking the coward’s way out by not identifying whether it’s 1 or 2.)
Correct! Definitely in the first, not sure about the second
It totally is! when he does the crazy roll in the car to park it. And I think again when he parks the monster truck?
If your life had a face I would punch it.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World! I loved the graphic novels, really enjoyed the movie and am very much looking forward to the movie cast coming back to do the upcoming anime. Alison Pill is such a fantastic Kim Pine I’m glad she’s reprising the character (she was good in Goon (2011) as well)!
So stoked for the anime! I couldn’t believe they got the cast back. Although it makes sense if you listened to the commentary tracks on the DVD (remember those?) the cast seemed like they really vibed and it was a long shoot.
You just expanded my world, I never knew about the commentary! I bought it digitally on itunes years ago and just checked to see if it included the commentary. It doesn’t, but different commentary tracks are on youtube in full. I just tested it and I was able to sync starting up the commentary on Youtube and starting my copy a few seconds late so that they start playing together. Definitely gonna check these out!
Ahh, I’m so excited for you! So there are 3: writer(s) and director, Top billed cast, and then everyone else. They’re all great and worth a listen. Have fun!
Both you and above (sorry, new, unsure how to tag someone) have made my world a better place. Did not know about the anime or commentary!
What is this!!? What is this?!
Sir, a jelly doughnut, sir! (Full Metal Jacket)
“The things I would eat out of her ass, you have no idea.” (I rarely eat ass but I say this way too often to myself.)
Ha Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle?
My jaw dropped, I didn’t think anyone would get that. It’s such a random throwaway line, nicely done!
It was in a stack of DVDs I own that I used to replay for background noise when doing school work. The entire trilogy is fun but that first movie holds a special place in my heart. The side characters have all the best lines, I myself say Anthony Anderson’s lines every now and then to myself!
Oh man, I regularly have to go digging for a good “C’mon Pookie…” gif! (Usually when fantasy sports don’t go my way.)
You want me to put the hammer down?
The Avengers (2012)?
Correct. I love to use that line when i’m playing Halo and have the Gravity Hammer equiped.
Nice, I hope you put on your best Thor voice when you say it!
Don’t know if this is “non famous” but… “Don’t hurt no one”
You do!
[in response to my wife calling me stupid]
I think the context you added as a clue helped eliminate some movies from being the answer, but definitely still having trouble with this one! For whatever reason it keeps evoking “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” quotes in my head which isn’t helpful since it’s a TV show.
I know it’s not this but I’m guessing it just to get things started in hopes of getting another clue: Pineapple Express (2008)?
Swing and a miss.
I’ll give you a more direct hint about the context: “You do” implies someone said that I [verb] something. But I say that in response to someone calling me [an adjective], which doesn’t make sense.
I’ve been thinking about this for far too long and am comin’ up with a hot load of nothing…
It almost feels Napoleon Dynamitish but I’m pretty sure it’s not.
Can you spoil it? Or give clues?
David Spade…
Ahhhhh, my knowledge of Spade films is pretty paltry.
Last hint, this is the one Spade film with him as the lead that virtually everyone loves.
Oh man, alright this has to be Joe Dirt right? I remember him saying “you do!” as a comeback to “you suck” so I’m guessing he misused it as a comeback later on. It could also possibly be the sequel but the first movie is definitely beloved with the sequel generally being not so much.
So I’m going Joe Dirt (2001) final answer!
The famous Spade movies I know of are Tommy Boy, Black Sheep and Joe Dirt and I’m 0/3 on them!
Though, after I watched him on Norm MacDonald’s netflix show I was more impressed than I had been so…
