Religious people always cherry pick their morality from religion. That’s why there’s people comitting genocide in the name of their religion right now. In several places all over Earth. Only because of religion.

Religion damages your mind and sanity by forcing you to choose between fictional religion and actual reality. Get away from religion now and permanently to increase your mental health state.

Gaslighting is how these religions work the idea that you are BORN sinful and deserving of death unless you strictly adhere to the rules (established by a toxic, superstitious, violent, nomadic bronze age desert tribe) and only through them are you worthy of salvation? The obsession with controlling sexual pleasure, one of our most fundamental biological urges by declaring then sinful? It’s a tool for control, always has been.

The fact that she’s challenged some of those beliefs is good and frankly impressive when you consider that critical thinking is all but bred out of the ultra religious BUT she still thinks like one it’s just that she’s pontificating against those she deems as not adhering to the rules as well as whe does now.

BUT the fact that I had to read about a (presumably) well-off, white, christian woman write about how strong her belief in the real teachings of the jesus have made her an outcast is bullshit. She’s whining about not being as privileged wahhh.

You’re not a true believer until you’re complaining about how much suffering you do for your beliefs 🤢

Edit: formatted some paragraphs to my rant 😅

The easiest way to manipulate someone is to tell them exactly what they want to hear

This is an excellent write up. Waking up and pulling yourself out of a bubble isn’t easy. This is the kind of piece that will hopefully be shared by other people going through a similar crisis of conscience.
