I am having issues posting content daily either on the website or the mobile app. Been trying to keep us at up-to-date as the subreddit but I think its a technical issue with posting.

Went to see what was going on over there, there’s a load of people in the daily thread completely missing the point of the protest.

      Hopefully just a loud minority

Yeah ‘I use the official app, it’s fine for me, what’s the problem’ just shows the mods really needed to put up an explanation before going dark.

I think they did put up an explanation and unfortunately most people are too lazy to read or didn’t even bother because “it doesn’t concern them I use the official app” eventhough if they read it, they’ll understand what this takes away.

Unfortunately, I think what the mods of /r/soccer and /r/gunners learnt today is that their users don’t give a shit about them (ie. mods and third party creators) or any greater cause. They just want their subs back.

These people don’t even realise in their race for karma whoring they are free content generators for reddit who in turn do nothing to improve the experience (just push more ads and propaganda).

The amount of people in /r/soccer and /r/gunners who want to abuse people who support the blackout is too damn high

Thanks for making an effort in spreading this community on r/Gunners (at least I assume it’s you based on the username). Not received that well it seems. It appears that our old home is filled with uninformed and narrow-minded people that frankly it’s better to avoid.

That comment about Lemmy looking like social media from 2008 like that’s a bad thing says it all really.

The irony is that these people do not realise Reddit looks the same without all the third party tools like RES.

I honestly think Lemmy is a little buggy and the backend mod tools are lacking, but the basic UI argument is so ridiculous considering they’re on Reddit.

Agreed. The only way you can pull the UI argument is if you’re using a 3P app today which these users clearly aren’t. Argue about the lack of content or whatever, but complaining about the UI is so ironic haha.

Your post bringing awareness to Lemmy was awesome. The abuse is ridiculous, accusing you of trying to grab power for yourself. People will always be resistant to change. I honestly hate being bombarded by ads. The official app is like an ad every two posts.

Yea, I really didn’t expect to be accused of a power grab. Literally the first thing I did after creating this community was contact the /r/gunners mods and offer to hand it over to them no strings attached without me even staying involved.

I don’t know if you have ever been a mod before but you’re doing a great job. I appreciate all the posts you make while the community grows, it makes it feel more active. I feel like most of the early adopters to Lemmy are going to be lurkers and less willing to make posts.

100% agree, but there are 315k supporters on r/gunners. We don’t need everyone to support or agree, but for a lot of reddit users might want a new home that already serves the exact same purpose. The tough part is going to be moderating and dealing on a new platform.

Ignoring the off the field stuff, I also think it’s the right time to cash in on him. He can’t play twice a week and is one of those players that needs a few games to get going. If I had to pick one of him or Jorginho to play as back up, I pick Jorginho. A more consistent less injury prone player. Jorginho peak isn’t as high as Partey but I think Partey is capable of more stinkers. Helps that Jorginho is a decent human being as well.

          @sabret00the @Mijn_Bergkamp

Why? It would ruin Arsenal and everything that Arteta and Edu are trying to build.

Anyone who wants Mbappe at Arsenal now just doesn’t want long term sustained success for the Club.

I guess I don’t want long term sustained success for the club.

Obviously the terms on which he comes here matter (purchase price, wages, etc.) but you cannot tell me that Mbappe would immediately elevate this club. Edu/Arteta have a vision for this club, yes? There are now multiple reports saying that our interest in Havertz is real. Are you telling me that Edu/Arteta would say no to Mbappe but yes to Havertz?

There is no perfect player. Perhaps the one flaw Mbappe has is that he doesn’t track back well. But how do you know that his instructions aren’t to hang out at the half-way line and spring the quick counter?

Also, this idea of “long-term sustained success” is a myth. Sports are nothing if not cyclical. There are windows in which to win championships, and you need to seize on them. And last I’ve checked, the last 15 or so years of this club we haven’t won the league once, nor have we made it to the quarters of the Champions League. During those 15 years, we have never had a player of the level of Mbappe - a player who is unquestionably world class and arguably best in the world. And now you would turn him down? The last time we won the league, we had arguably the best player in the world.

@kuijun You’re missing the point. He would totally disrupt the changing room, wage structure, team togetherness.

I don’t want any primadona anywhere near this squad.

what evidence do you have of this?

say what you want about our season last year, but it was clear we lacked a winner’s mentality. we crashed out of every domestic cup, laid an egg at home in the Europa League, and couldn’t keep it together when City upped their game second half of the season.

It’s called using your own eyes. If you don’t think he will disrupt everything good about Arsenal last year then that’s your opinion, but’s it mine that I don’t want that prick anywhere near Arsenal.

I would argue that our stubbornness regarding self sustainability was actually what caused our downfall.

Paying him 600 for one season would be the equivalent of not signing two additional players, but gaining arguably one of the best two strikers in the world.

It’s also worth noting that winning the league and champions league would put us in a position whereby we would actually struggle to exceed our income.

I don’t think it will happen, but I’d definitely take him for year.

It’s not just about financial sustainability. It’s the impact it has on structure and team togetherness. He has a known ego, and would likely need to be paid double or triple any of our other players to be convinced to come. If he doesn’t then perform to that level you think players like Saka will just sit around? We could afford to pay one player that much but we can’t afford to pay everyone that much.
