    Our society has the ability to reliable conduct short(er) range space travel. We have split and fused atoms. I refuse to believe anything this trivial was ever infeasible, rich people just use that word instead of saying unprofitable.

    in Australia, a country known for it’s sunshine that also has plenty of wind and capacity for hydro power, while still requiring gas/diesel backing of 1/3 of total generation capacity.

      Sure, bc its the easiest path. But some gas for peak hours is totally fine. The problem is in countries like the US or Germany where over 50% of the electricity comes from fossil fuels. At least that should be the goal on the short term
