I have never gotten 400 miles out of a shoe. I’m 190lb runner and have gotten as low as around 200 miles and looking back through my Garmin retired shoes managed 370 once. At any rate, shout out to these Brooks Ghost 13’s :)

Normally something (knees) let me know it’s time to switch. These I retired due to running out of sole! At any rate, 95 activities, and 444 miles is a record for me!

Longest i’ve ever gotten out of a pair was around 1600km on a pair of triumph 18. Admittedly those were used a bit too long, although having a rotation helped. At the end i just used them for occasional shorter slow runs.

On average l try to get at least 1000km+ out of each pair.

But ghosts are definitely known for good durability

Yep, I also tend to get around 1000km from my shoes. Usually my signal to retire a pair is pain in the left toe ball (is that the right term?) after a run.

For me I start to feel a bit more impact forces on my knees once the midsole is starting to go flat.

I have some Triumph 20 at the moment that I really like. Looking to get some Speed 3 on sale to rotate between the two.

Impressive! At 210 pounds I go through shoes pretty fast, but my current Asics Novablast just hit 300 miles and they’re still going strong, hopefully they hold up like these Ghosts.

I’m curious to see if the new ones go close to that long too. Bought them both at the same time.

I run about 1000km/620miles usually. Altough my brooks (adrenaline) tend to be a bit less, around 900km/560miles. The rubber on the sole is usally completely gone in some spots. Adidas shoes, with the continental rubber on the soles, tend to last a bit longer. I’m about the same weight as the op.

560 miles in the shoes? Wow that’s impressive!!

For me it’s always the upper that goes. The outsole of my altras is good for well over 1500-2000 km

Ghosts are my favorite! I usually get about 350 miles out of them, so way to go! I also do not understand those people who gets tons and tons of miles out of shoes.

Ya, I assume weight has a big impact, but obviously how much you scuff/how you land etc… Just crazy how even these wore without causing any running issues. Wouldn’t think my running changed much just out of the blue.

I get consistently high miles from my shoes. 1200-2000 km. I recently got 2300km out of my altra LP 5s and I think there are some factors (n=1)

      • Weight - I’m 70-75 kg. Less weight = less wear
      • Shoe rotation - I have 6 pairs which I try to rotate. Gives more time for shoe to rest between runs
      • speed - I tend to run at easy paces, so lower speed = lower wear
      • stinginess - I am stingy, so I don’t mind a shoe feels a bit dead towards the end of its life. It will still do well as a everyday running shoe. It just won’t be used for races.

It’s the upper that wears out first for me as I have quite wide feet.

To me, it seems like around the 300 mile mark, the shoes are still usable but less forgiving. For example I might start experiencing pain in my right toe with older shoes, but it’s my fault for running funny. I’ve gotten 6-700 miles out of shoes before at 190lb, and now I’ve just stopped tracking mileage on them. Mostly I switch them out when I’m afraid they will break or fall apart somehow mid-run.

I’d have no rubber left on the bottom!

Wow that’s something! I have Asics Gel Kayano with more than 700 km - not sure I should get new ones, but my knees are fine and I don’t feel any discomfort when running. I’m approx 75 kg.

Ya, I wasn’t having any real issues, just busting through the sole a bit on my heels. Just figured it was time to swap to the next set.

One of them will just start getting tight/sore. I’ll notice it while not running, sitting on the couch undery leg or crouching.
