LightSail is a citizen-funded project by The Planetary Society, aiming to demonstrate solar sailing technology. Solar sailing is a method of spacecraft propulsion using the radiation pressure from the Sun as a source of thrust. LightSail is a CubeSat, a type of miniaturized satellite for space research, which is about the size of a loaf of bread.
