Just got the Golden Horse. Love my versatility as I play in a funk/disco cover band. Any recommendations? Looking for a tremolo next
I’m very happy with my MXR M305 stereo tremolo. Good demo over at Andy Demos (does he ever do a bad demo?). I haven’t had a chance to try an expression pedal or the stereo yet. The envelope filter mode I had to dial in the speed and depth (they were set way to subtle out of the box) but after that it’s great. Have been playing with the harmonic mode lately too.
@baronvonj @BluesBox it looks great! :owi: how it sound! Love this efffect :underheart:. What songs do you identify use this effect? I Just play covers (amateur player) 😀
For my band in particular I wanna use it for “Baby Don’t Leave Me Alone With My Thoughts” by Lake Street Dive for the prechorus and “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton but I am into more noisy psychedelic music personally and would use it for some crazy sounds or like how Barber from Disco Biscuits uses it
A couple of classic examples:
Buffalo Springfield - For What It’s Worth
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born on the Bayou and The Midnight Special
Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Audioslave - Like a Stone (during the intro)
Radiohead - The Bends
Garbage - I Think I’m Paranoid (might be harmonic trem or a rotary instead of trem)@baronvonj thanks! I had a pair of songs. The rest wow!
well … I have to admit Google gets some credit here!
I love my MXR chorus so that might just be a perfect choice for me, and Andy does it justice as usual
Nice board! How do you like the horse?
I love it. Really sounds great when my ac30 is a little overdriven, on my clean channel its a little narrow EQ wise. I use it to add a little more gain to my overdrive if needed
I used that same turbo tube screamer for years. It’s a really great OD.
Agreed! Got it as a gift from my dad, pretty much only use the ts9 setting but when I’m having fun at home playing some higher gain stuff the other settings get some love. I find they have less gain saturation but way more headroom if that makes sense
