They do, but Microsoft kinda shot themselves in the foot with gamepass. So even in America, the only place where it’s sold not disastrously, no one’s actually buying games.

Xbox Series isn’t that popular over here anyway. Especially diskless Series S was never sold out when there was that global supply shortage (maybe at individual retailers but never in a broader way). In fact, I distinctly remember that for Christmas in launch year it was even on sale for 20 Euro off at many retailers.

so true, even in the US markets we never ran out of S’s, Resellers would come in and explicitly state “do you have anything but the S” because everything else was super looked for but it seemed you couldn’t give those S’s away lol

Unpopular opinion, but I’m fine with this. I only buy games digitally these days because who has the patience to put in a disk these days. And I pirate cracked copies of PC games to ensure I have a copy forever.

That’s what you do and that’s fine, but if this becomes the norm then we lose our second hand discount market and the console companies will control the market and pricing completely.

I don’t want to see that happen

Last time I checked most games were cheaper when bought physically in comparison to digitally.

Intentionally buying digital makes a lot of sense for games you might play on a whim.

But I’m going to be honest, if you’re playing through a full campaign, that’s just lazy. If I’m going to be playing a game for the next couple weeks or month, putting a disc in affects me negligibly.

Nah, it’s easy to put games on an external hard drive and keep them there for future use. Takes up a lot less shelf space, too.

Losing the second hand market hurts though. But there also haven’t been any box PC games in at least a decade.
