There was an extremely racist and hurtful comment posted in response to this article. The comment was completely purged from the database due to some clients rendering the comment text verbatim and not that the comment was removed. There is no place for such commentary here and we do not want it to be associated with our community. As a consequence of the comment being removed the replies are no longer visible. In Canada we just “solved” this issue by reducing the amount of students we allow into the country and limiting how much they can work and stopping their partner from working too.
What does that “solve” exactly? Australia wants students. And we want them to work while studying.
30% of the Australian population are recent migrants and Student Visas make up 39% of all Visas so this affects a lot of people.
The vast majority of them are genuine students studying at some of the best schools in the world - we don’t want to change anything that will hurt those students.
Oops wasn’t sarcastic enough lol just funny this is going through Aussie news now, they clearly talk but let’s hope for Australia they take the same ridiculous approach
