As an American, super jealous of the club scene in the early 2000’s, I wish I had the honor to be an ex-Gatecrasher clubber. Godskitchen too. And Pacha. And so many more.
That’s when I was there!! Got to see Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, etc. Fun times in Republic* with lots of drugs. :)
*THe original building Gatecrasher was hosted in, in Sheffield. It’s burnt down now. :/
Gatecrasher burnt down just before I moved up north to be a student, and I’m still gutted I never got to go. Went to a fair few of the Cream nights at Nation in Liverpool at least.
Gatecrasher had, had a refit a year or so before the fire so it wasn’t at it’s best. The best time was when it was a proper old factory inside with dripping ceilings.
Did you ever go to Creamfields?
I did a couple of times yeah, even worked the gates once! Had a great time with it, I remember the silent disco Friday being particularly hilarious: a load of gurning ravers marching around in silence
No but fucking hell I wish I could have been! I’d have loved to have gone! I was probably just a bit too young. I’ve been to Creamfields and Global Gathering a few times and they were awesome but wish I could have gone to a proper club club.
