In the ashen gloom of twilight, the once dormant colossus, Grimclaw the Terrestrial Titan, awakened with the earth’s groan under his jagged scales. He marched towards the city of Sorrow’s Reach, his heart a cauldron of ancient fury, seeking to unleash cataclysmic revenge for the death of his brother, felled by the hubris of mortal hands. As the shadow of his form blotted out the waning light, the air itself seemed to weep, anticipating the sorrow he would bring.
But upon his tumultuous arrival, Grimclaw’s wrathful gaze met not the untouched spires he yearned to topple but a horizon ablaze, with Skyrend the Celestial Serpent already woven into the city’s fate. The serpent’s girth fanned the flames of destruction, her feral cries resonating with a triumph Grimclaw sought to claim. The city, bathed in an inferno of retribution, had become a pyre of satisfaction stolen.
Grimclaw’s sorrowful roar shattered the skies, a sound of both victory and defeat, for in Skyrend’s chaos, he found the city’s demise but not by his own claws. A hollow victory that echoed the emptiness within, as Skyrend’s unleashed fury had usurped not just the city’s future, but also Grimclaw’s purpose.
The unsettling peace that followed was not one of silence, but of two monsters’ cries entwined in a symphony of lost vengeance and stolen destiny.
I started with this image:
And thought it needed a bit more chaos and I ended up reinventing middle earth:
From there I thought I needed something more vile and unimaginable and ended up with:
Then I missed the sense of scale and wonder the first image had and further tweaks ended up with the title image. I increased the resolution and used inpainting to fix a few errors that were hard to overlook. Then I wrote a short story and had Chat GPT fill out that story which I edited further and included above.
