The House on Tuesday failed to pass a Republican-led resolution to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the southern border.
Moments before, when House Republicans thought they had eked out the impeachment vote – despite the defiance of three of their members – Democratic Rep. Al Green, of Texas rolled in to the chamber in a wheelchair in hospital scrubs.
During the Mayorkas drama, Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, filed a motion to reconsider immediately after the vote failed, allowing it to be taken up again. It is likely to be scheduled when Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who is receiving cancer treatment, is able to attend.
So it’s basically a battle of who can get out of hospital the fastest? What a functional democracy.
It’s a gerontocracy . That’s what you get when you keep electing old fucks over and over again.
It’s impressive that they managed to shoot themselves in both feet.
Losers still lose.
Stunning? Really? Who expected this to go well?
I am completely surprised that any GOP congress critters broke from the party line and voted against impeachment for reasonable reasons like a lack of any reason to impeach.
The stunning part is that they let it go to a vote without having whipped the necessary numbers.
They could have drawn it out with hearings, but they thought they had it in the bag and that their whole caucus was bought into the BS narrative they’re trying to to drive leading into this election year.
After shutting down their own border security bill, what a bunch of useless dirtbags.
they don’t care. its about watering down the significance fo impeachment by misusing it when they are in power so they can claim appropriate use when they are not is a misuse like they do.
