The Hindenburg burned because they intentionally used the wrong gas. They wanted to use Helium but the U.S held a strict monopoly on it fearing it would be used to manufacture special weapons, so they used Hydrogen.
And it was also kinda less efficient than hydrogen as it was heavier.

Well joke’s certainly on us after we found out we can make bombs out of hydrogen and not helium.
Didn’t they also use basically rocket fuel as a sealant?
