Is it actually worth creating a Tutorial Channel in 2024? I started a little channel to post little tutorials that my friends and family are keep on asking me to show them / do for them (I’ve done some of the tasks so many times).
It’s currently got 1 video on the channel but has received nothing at all, like I don’t mind if I just have to paste the links to family and friends but it would be cool to see other people possibly use the videos too.
The only kind of channel it’s not worth starting in 2024 is a bad channel!
I watched your video. It was a clear tutorial and the audio was good (at least from what I can tell on my phone) which is often a stumbling block with first videos. But a bit of feedback in general…
The title of the video is pretty confusing, I run two channels and honestly couldn’t tell what you were about to show me from the title alone. With tutorials, you’re beholden to search traffic so it’s going to be super important to title things with terms people are specifically looking for.
(Or of course you can go the obnoxious clickbait route and really hype up the results, but since we’re on Lemmy I’ll hazard a guess that you’re not a fan of obnoxious clickbait.)
Since there’s only one video and no other info I’m not sure what kind of “tutorial channel” this is going to be. Is it specifically YT tuts? Or is it just going to be a random assortment of things?
In the latter case you’ve gotta to be realistic in terms of why anyone would subscribe to a channel with such random content that isn’t even entertainment. That’s a tough sell, honestly I’m not sure how to come up with a USP but hopefully you have a good idea of what value you’re bringing and can communicate that to potential subscribers.
Don’t mean to sound harsh in this comment at all, it’s just some things to think about! Hopefully there’s a nugget of something helpful in here somewhere 🙂
