Well, it’s a house in New Orleans. It’s been the ruin of many a poor boy. Gambling happens there and apparently it can be reached by train. It is also probable that predatory loans are issued there, creating the feeling of being bound to a ball and chain.
I love art that offers up many different interpretations.
Haha, my answer was a bit silly but my impression has been of a gambler returning to a gambling house that contains other vices as well.
Totally agree, and various interpretations is one of my barometers of good art (as opposed to art as a means if tax evasion)
